Utah company Lumos Inc. designs, develops and distributes specialty sports medicine products. Founded in October 2008 by Jim Jensen and Reed Quinn, the Company's first released product is KT Tape.
KT, which stands for kinesiology tape, is the first such tape to be made available directly to consumers instead of through athletic trainers or physical therapists. KT Tape comes in convenient, easy to use, pre-cut strips specifically designed for athletes to apply themselves. Each package of KT Tape also includes detailed, easy to follow instructions for common applications and injuries.
The tape works by lifting the skin and relieving pressure on pain transmitters, providing muscle-pain relief and support without restricting motion. Lumos has several process and product related patents pending and also enjoys the exclusive endorsement of Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh.
It literally pays to have one of your founders in business school. Reed Quinn is currently completing his Executive MBA at BYU and together with his cousin Michelle Quinn, has entered and won numerous new venture business plan competitions including San Diego State University and University of Oregon.
KT Tape is currently distributed through Sports Authority, Big 5 Sporting Goods, Dick's Sporting Goods, Lady Foot Locker as well as others.
