For all you Canadians out there or anyone planning a trip in Canada soon, check out new website MapSherpa. Launched yesterday by DM Solutions Group, MapSherpa is an online service that allows users to create a personalized, high quality paper or printable map of anywhere in Canada.
After signing up for a free account, users can create personalized topographic, terrain or street maps to help plan a trip or navigate in the outdoors. Powered by NAVTEQ digital map data, MapSherpa uses web technologies to allow users to define their exact area of interest and to add their own content such as camp sites, ski trails, planned routes or a backcountry hut. Maps can be downloaded as a PDF or else ordered as a normal paper print. Downloadable PDFs cost $2.99 and printed maps cost $38.95 or $44.95 for the plasticized version.
"MapSherpa's goal is to deliver maps of equal quality to off-the-shelf paper maps, with the value-add of user defined geography and content," commented Dave McIlhagga, President and CEO of DM Solutions Group.
