Osprey Hornet Series Ultra-Light Backpacks

For those of you that were so excited, like me, you couldn't wait to buy the 2 lb
Osprey Exos
superlight backpack last season, get ready to pull out your wallets once again for an even lighter backpack. The new Osprey Hornet Series of ultra-light backpacks have shaved off almost a pound of weight without losing the functionality.

Weighing just 1 lb 2 ounces for the Hornet 24, 1 lb 5 ounces for the Hornet 32, and 1 lb 8 ounces for the Hornet 42, these ultra-light backpacks can be stripped down to reduce the weight even further. The highly ventilated Spacer Mesh back-panel with built in air channels has a removable foam pad for those summit climbers or thru hikers looking to shed the excess ounces.

Zippered mesh pockets on the hip-belt let you store snacks and your camera where they can be reached while on the move as well as a stretch Gu pocket on the harness. A pocket in the removable, single buckle lid and two side pockets give you extra storage capacity.

Osprey's Bio-Stretch harness and hipbelt with Osprey's ErgoPull closure offer functionality while still cutting the weight. The Hornet Series is fully compatible with Osprey's HydraForm hydration reservoirs. The ultra-light packs are made from 70D Triple Rip Nylon and 7mm compression webbing with reflective detail to ensure you remain visible in low light conditions.

The Osprey Hornet Series of ultra-light backpacks with be available for Spring 2011 and retail between $119 and $159 depending on size.
