JanSport has teamed up with Barneys New York to adapt their Heritage and Urban Framework series into an exclusive collection for the high fashion retailer. The Barneys backpack collection features JanSport's Ski&Hike, Swinger, Westridge, and Large Metal Frame models, all in a new denier ripstop retro plaid fabric with charcoal, brown and blue tones.
Modeled after the original 1972 Vail Ski Patrol pack, the Ski&Hike ($125) trapezoid backpack features one main compartment with a front zippered gear pocket. A durable leather base, adjustable seat belt webbing shoulder straps and the original 1967 JanSport label contribute to the fashionable retro look.
The Westridge ($200) adds a 15" padded laptop sleeve, seat belt webbing compression straps, and dual zippered side pockets in place of the front pocket. The handbag size Swinger ($75-pictured top) comes with a removable seat belt shoulder strap and one main compartment with two side accessory pockets.
Barneys Large Frame Pack ($350) features a removable aluminum frame true to JanSport's original design. A flap front large main compartment and 2 zippered side compartments offer plenty of storage space. A hip belt with retro clasp closure, padded back panel and lumbar cushion ensure this external frame pack is comfortable to carry.
The JanSport heritage plaid backpack collection will be available exclusively at Barneys for the holidays.
