You have probably seen her designs adorning many professional athletes. Now Kristin Mayer from Brand Betty has created a women's cycling apparel collection of her very own. The first piece in the collection is the Betty Designs Signature Jersey featuring Kristin's popular skulls and butterflies design combination.
Kristin has been a freelance graphic designer since 1996, creating race kit for clients such as Zoot, K-Swiss and World Triathlon Corporation. She credits two inspirations for starting her own design firm and ultimately own cycling apparel line.
First was Kristin's dad telling her after one triathlon that she "looked like a dude on a bike". The second was a poster of World Champion mountain biker Paola Pezzo standing on the podium in her gold lamé knickers. Kristin realized that women can be strong and feminine at the same time and that they don't have to look like a boy while kicking butt.
The Betty Designs Signature Jersey comes in a women's specific fit with raglan sleeves. A full hidden zipper and mesh side panels help you with temperature regulation. The rear pocket has an MP3/race radio opening and a gripper on the elastic waist keeps the jersey from riding up.
