Völkl Cracks The CODE On Mountain Racing

Picture 1

If you like to go fast on the groomers, the new Völkl CODE mountain racing skis may be just for you. With a moderate tip/tail rocker, the CODE skis are meant to deliver playful performance alongside pro-level speed, stability and precision through the turns.

The CODE is 10 cm longer than traditional on-piste skis, giving you greater stability at high speeds. The tailored shape of the ski, however, ensures you still have the maneuverability of a shorter ski.

With the CODE, Völkl is moving away from ski choice based on dimensions such as length, radius, and waist. Instead, Völkl is using 4 color codes (yellow, blue, red, black) that are determined using a combination of your ability and height. For example, an ambitious skier who is over 6 feet 1 inches tall, should purchase the black CODE ski.

The Völkl CODE ski comes in two versions, the SPEEDWALL and PSi. The CODE SPEEDWALL is a racing ski with a rocker build that is a balance of classic cambering at the waist and an upwards rocker curve in the tip and tail. The sidewalls are made of the same material as the base of the ski, adding super speed to every turn.

The CODE PSi integrates Völkl's Power Switch Individual (PSi) technology. A carbon mechanism within the ski adjusts the ski's stiffness based on your age, ability and weight for a truly personal setup. A steel spring insert in the ski's body gives the CODE PSi an additional level of agility.

The Völkl CODE SPEEDWALL and CODE PSi mountain racing skis will be available next Fall 2011.
