Forget those hours of blood, sweat and tears and the numerous trips to the hardware store that it will take to convert that rusty old van into your dirtbag basecamp. With input from Sir Chris Bonington himself, Berghaus teamed up with VW to create the ultimate climber van.
Developed over the last 18 months, the special edition VW California includes a range of exclusive Berghaus features. With a prominent climber motif, the van includes Berghaus-branded carpet mats, waterproof seat covers, and exclusive 18-inch bi-color alloy wheels.
An all season vehicle, the awning pulls out of the side of the van offering you and your buddies some shade for that post climb beer. For dinner outside, folding chairs store neatly in the hatchback and an adjustable, free-standing table stores away inside the door.
The electric pop up roof houses a full size mattress and the back seats fold down to make a further bed in the living area. The front seats swivel round 180 degrees so you and 3 of your buddies can hang out around the fold away indoor table. A stainless steel sink and double burner gas stove are kitchen enough to make that all important morning coffee.
For the tens of thousands of pounds you are going to pay to get this climber van, Berghaus will throw in load of gear including sleeping bags, backpacks, hats, gloves, insulated mugs and the all important flask. The climber van is also fitted with a bike rack so you can bring along your cruiser or mountain bike on your adventures.
Sadly it looks as though the Berghaus VW California climber van is only available in the UK at the moment. So for the rest of us, don't throw away those power tools just yet.
