A More Stylish Cycling Jacket Option

Pashley Tweed Cycling Jacket

A range of UK cycling brands are expanding beyond just bikes and accessories into apparel, bringing to market some classic cycling jackets that combine technical performance with natural elegance. Without an ounce of lycra in sight, these stylish cycling jackets can be worn all day, straight from the bike to the office or bar.

At Interbike last month, Pashley unveiled a new apparel collection. Starting with a men's and women's cycling jacket (pictured above), the weather resistant tweed, with reflective detailing, will cause you to be the envy of any tweed ride or even your daily bike commute.

Brooks Criterion Jacket

Part of the Brooks John Boultbee (founder of Brooks) collection, the men's and women's Criterion Jacket was designed together with famous English bespoke tailor Timothy Everest. The outer jacket is made from Ventile, a waterproof and windproof treated woven cotton textile designed in England during the Second World War. The inside of the cycling jacket is lined with water resistant tweed, with Savile Row lining for the sleeves.

Internal shoulder straps let you remove the cycling jacket when warm and wear it like a backpack for the rest of your commute. A waterproof flap, velcroed to the bottom of the cycling jacket, can be dropped down to protect your backside from a wet saddle or road splash.

The Criterion Jacket features plenty of pockets, with two weather protected chest pockets and a zippered arm pocket with key fob. Two rear pockets are protected by a snap flap, while an internal electronics pockets protective connects to headphone loops inside the cycling jacket.

The classic English tailoring of the Brooks Criterion cycling jacket does not come cheap, with a retail price of €1000 or £867.
