Adidas Outdoor Terrex Fast X Hiking Shoes Review

Adidas Terrex Fast X hiking shoes

Regardless of waning daylight hours and inclement weather, most of us still want to hit the trails while we can. Whether heading out for a hike or a quick morning trail run, the Terrex Fast X hiking shoes from Adidas Outdoor will give you all the element protection and traction you need to give it your all.

The Terrex Fast X hiking shoes take advantage of the Adidas TRAXION outsole, with a unique lug design that was originally meant to replace conventional studs for a variety of sports. The surface area is optimized for better traction, comfort, grip, and overall performance. I found the hiking shoes to be stable on everything from dry loose gravel to wet and muddy rocks, even when you are traveling fast.

The hiking shoes are constructed with the Adidas ForMotion element in the midsole. This element positions your heel lower in the shoe for a more natural and smoother strike. The AdiPrene heel cushioning technology helps reduce the harmful repetitive effects on your heel from continuous impact.

An abrasion resistant mesh upper and GORE-TEX lining mean these hiking shoes will take a beating over rough terrain and keep your feet dry in any weather.  The speedlace system makes is quick and easy to get in and out of the shoes and best of all, no undone laces to trip over during your trail run. A lace bungee on the toe keeps the pull tab in place so it doesn't bother you while you hike or run.

Loops on the tongue and back of the hiking shoes not only aid in getting the shoes on, but can also be used to hook the shoes to the back of your pack if needed. The sizing is as expected for your athletic footwear. You don't want to go too small or you will have your toes banging into the front of the hiking shoes on the descent.

Bottom Line: The Adidas Outdoor Terrex Fast X hiking shoes provide plenty of comfort and great foul weather traction for either hiking or trail running.

The Terrex Fast X come in both a men's and women's version and retail for $140. If you are planning to hike through deep snow or mud, or perhaps want a little more ankle support, the hiking shoes come in a Mid version as well.
