From Bike Parts To Bike Bags

Shimano Bike Bags

Last week, Shimano unveiled plans to expand from creating bike parts into selling bike bags. With the intial launch scheduled in the fall to the European market, the Shimano bike bag collection will satisfy the needs of every rider, from the daily bike commuter to the hard core mountain biker.

The new Shimano collection will feature four different styles of bike bags, including messenger bags and backpacks for the bike commuter, hydration packs for the mountain biker, and general hydration ready daypacks for both on and off the bike.

The signature piece in the new collection, the Unzen hydration pack is built for the aggressive trail rider. Designed around Shimano's ACCU3D (Accurate 3D) Series technology, the fit cross harness system provides a body hugging fit. The hydration pack comes in three sizes (6L, 10L, 15L), with a 2L capacity reservoir.

The Tsukinist is a series of backpacks (20L, 30L) with integrated rain cover for the bike commuter. Mesh backpanels keep you from showing up to work covered in sweat, while a padded laptop sleeve and smartphone pocket on the strap ensure you can bring work with you on the go.

The 25L and 35L Osaka messenger bags feature the standard organizer panel, padded laptop sleeve, and quick adjust system. The Rokko daypack provides 12 liters of storage room and is hydration ready (bladder not included) for any adventure on or off the bike.

Prices for the Shimano bike bag line range from approximately $80 to $160. You can check out various close up photos over on BikeRadar
