Any thru hiker or person that sleeps in a hammock on the trail knows how cold your backside can get during the night with all that cool air circulating beneath you. To help you get a better night's sleep, Grand Trunk has designed an insulated sleeping bag that wraps around your hammock, leaving you hanging inside a warm cocoon.
When you lay in a hammock, your sleeping bag compresses under your body weight, crushing all the insulating loft. Unlike tent sleeping, you don't have the benefit of a Therm-a-Rest or foam pad to keep you insulated from the cold ground or air underneath you.
The Grand Trunk Hammock Compatible Sleeping Bag wraps around your hammock to provide full protection from the cold. A zippered pass through system at the top and bottom of the sleeping bag enables you to thread your hammock through the bag, securing it around the hammock. Bungee cord loops at the bottom cinch the bag around the hammock to further help keep out cold air.
Full length zippers on both sides of the insulated sleeping bag make it easy to get in and out, while offering plenty of ventilation options. A draft collar, together with a hook and loop closure tab at the top, let you secure the bag snugly around your head and shoulders to lock in warmth.
Stuffed with Thinsulate insulation, the mummy style sleeping bag is rated to 32ºF. The Hammock Compatible Sleeping Bag weighs 2lbs 10oz and packs down in a stuff sack that is 14 inches high and 8.25 inches in diameter.
Grand Trunk is currently taking pre-orders for their April advanced shipment of 200 Hammock Compatible Sleeping Bag . The insulated sleeping bags retail for $179.99, with a portion of the proceeds going to the concept originator, Herrick Kroeger of Blue Sky Outfitters in Georgia.
