All you Chaco fans will be happy to hear about the company's latest footwear release just in time for your spring and summer adventures. The new NearGround Collection includes a line of men's and women''s sandals that feature the traditional Chaco webbing but are built on a more minimalist platform. Since last fall, I have been wearing the new Fantasia sandals for Stand Up Paddleboarding and the Fathom for around town and trips to the beach.
The NearGround Collection is built on top of an entirely new platform that is dramatically lighter and less structured than your classic Chacos, while still offering the full LUVSEAT foot support and alignment. The low to ground design gives you better terrain feel with a much thinner sole, but still provides the durability you expect from your Chacos in order to take you anywhere.
With the NearGround Collection, Chaco has lightened up their traditional platform by 40%. In the pictures above, you can see the difference in weight between my old ZX/1 sandal and the new Fathom sandal. You will also notice the difference in platform thickness between the two.
The new Chaco sandal collection uses a different webbing adjustment system that employs an embedded D-ring design resulting in quick on and off. The 25% recycled rubber EcoTread outsole will give you the traction you need whether on the trail or in the water.
The Chaco Near Ground Collection includes a variety of sandal styles for both men and women and ranges in price from $60-$90, available now. Time to get out and work on that Chaco tan.
