Summer Energy Flavors

Just in time for summer adventures, many of your favorite energy companies are releasing new flavors. From gels and chews, to protein bars and waffles, your taste buds will have something new to look forward to while out on the trail, bike, or water.

In a complete brand refresh, Probar renamed their Core protein bar to the Base. In addition to the name change, Probar is adding two new flavors to the Base line for summer: Frosted Peanut Butter and Chocolate SuperGreens. The Base bars feature 20 grams of plant protein, are gluten free, and have 4-5 grams of fiber. The new flavors will be available starting mid-summer, retailing for $2.79.

Honey Stinger has three new products for summer: a new flavor for its Organic Stinger Waffles and two new caffeinated flavors of its Organic Energy Gels. The new waffle flavor is Gingersnap (yum!). Each waffle provides 160 calories of fuel and contains no artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, high fructose corn syrup, or trans fats. A box of 16 waffles retails for $22.24 or $1.39 each.

The new Chocolate and Strawberry Kiwi Caffeinated Energy Gels each contain 32 milligrams of caffeine derived from green tea and 24 grams – 25 grams of carbs. The new gel flavors retail for $33.36 (box of 24) or $1.39 each.

GU Energy Labs announced the release of two new products for summer: Chocolate Peanut Butter Energy Gel and Black Cherry Chomps. Chocolate Peanut Butter ($11.60 for box of 8) is the follow-up flavor to the popular Salted Caramel Gel and is the newest GU Gives flavor. GU Gives is the philanthropic arm of GU Energy Labs, and a portion of each sale of Chocolate Peanut Butter Gel will go toward funding charities like the Challenged Athletes Foundation. The new flavor also includes elevated electrolytes, with 125 milligrams of sodium and 60 milligrams of potassium.

Black Cherry Chomps ($31.75 for box of 16) are based on the original GU Energy formula and deliver an optimized blend of carbohydrates, GU’s proprietary amino acid blend, and full servings of Vitamins C and E. One Chomps packet provides 180 calories and 46 grams of carbohydrates for fuel.
