CamelBak Kudu Hydration Pack With Back Protector

CamelBak Kudu

Whether you are a serious DHer or just want some extra protection on those gnarly descents, spine protectors rank up there with a quality helmet. New for Spring 2015, CamelBak follows EVOC and POC by adding back protection to a new line of mountain bike specific hydration packs. The Kudu Series includes both a 12L ($200) and 18L ($225) capacity hydration pack that come with an integrated impact protector insert.

Housed in the back zip reservoir compartment, the Kudu features a 100 ounce (3L) Antidote reservoir along with a new impact protector sleeve. The actual back protecter sits inside the velcro closure sleeve, so no need to take it out unless you don’t want to ride with it one day or need to clean the pack.

The CamelBak back protector is CE certified to Level 2 , meaning it is rated beyond bike and up to moto standard. Flexible and lightweight, the impact protector insert will mold to your body position as you ride. The back protector takes multiple impacts, so you don’t have to worry about replacing it after a single endo.

Other hydration pack features include armor carry straps at the base, while any overflow armor can be carried on the compression straps/pockets on the side. The Kudu are equipped for helmet carry—both half shell and full face.

The front zip pocket features an integrated tool roll and dedicated pocket. The tool roll will also be sold as an accessory. An integrated rain (or mud) cover can be deployed in inclement weather and is removable if you don’t want to carry the extra weight or bulk. The rain cover is high-vis yellow with a reflective logo and blinker tab for running a light.

The CamelBak Kudu collection will start shipping in January.
