For Spring 2015, Thule expands their popular Pack ‘n Pedal pannier line with the new Shield. These lightweight and versatile bags are made from a water-resistant and high-vis fabric, great for cycle touring or commuting around town.
The new Thule Shield Panniers protect all your gear by providing IP64 dust and water resistance with welded construction and roll top closures. Similar to the Ortlieb High Visibility panniers and bags, the Shield Panniers feature highly reflective patterns on the front and side panels, so that the whole bag lights up when hit by headlights at night.
Similar to the other Pack n’ Pedal panniers, the Shield use the same quick and easy attachment system. Simply pull upward on the pull loop so the hooks go into an open horizontal position, align the hooks with the rack and place on the rail, then release. A lower magnetic attachment point keeps the bag from bouncing around while you ride.
The Thule racks can be fitted on virtually any kind of bike and the Pack n’ Pedal bags to any kind of rack. An integrated grab handle on the Shield with detachable shoulder strap allows for multiple carrying options. Pockets on the inside of the bags enable you to keep small items organized.
The Thule Shield Panniers come in two sizes (48L and 28L) and three colors (Dark Shadow, Cobalt, and Chartreuse). The bike panniers retail for $124.95 (small pair) and $149.95 (large pair) and will start shipping January 1, 2015.
