Current solutions may make it easy to train while measuring your heart rate, but chest straps, watches, or wrist bands are annoying and uncomfortable to wear all the time. As continuously monitoring your heart rate through cycles of training, sleep, and recovery provides insights that could help improve your performance, AmpStrip came up with a solution–a thin patch you wear on your body all day.
The AmpStrip is a small (3.5 inches long, 1 inch wide), thin (1/4 inch), sensor-filled strip you wear on your torso all day, every day. A replaceable, medical-grade adhesive keep the strip on your body even under the most rigorous conditions, including pool or ocean workouts and strenuous whole body efforts for 3 or more days.
Using a single lead ECG sensor, the AmpStrip continuously monitors your heart in order to provide feedback about your athletic performance and recovery. The strip also includes a 3-axis MEMS accelerometer to detect motion in all planes, which is then translated into specific activities and effort levels. A skin proximity Thermistor even detects your skin temperature.
You don’t have to remember to push start–just put on the AmpStrip and go. The heart rate strip communicates with any app on your phone with Bluetooth 4.0 (BLE). No phone nearby or don’t want to train with your phone? No worries. Integrated memory stores up to 24 hours of data until the next time you’re near your device.
The AmpStrip uses a 20 mA wireless rechargeable battery. Under constant daily use in normal conditions the battery will only need to be recharged every 7 days or so.
