Control Your GoPro From Your Snow Goggles

Oakley Airwave 1.5

Earlier this month, Recon Instruments released a new app for skiers and snowboarders that allows you to control your GoPro HERO4 camera remotely—and to access a real-time viewfinder—using snow goggles like Oakley’s Airwave 1.5, which are equipped with Recon’s Snow2 heads-up display.

With the Airwave GoPro Connect app, the heads up display of the Recon Snow2 unit doubles as a viewfinder for your GoPro. This way you can know instantly whether or not your camera is positioned correctly and the lens is clear of snow or other debris.

You can start and stop recording, snap photos, or change modes from your Oakley Airwave 1.5 or other Recon Snow2 remote that sits on your wrist–the buttons are super easy to operate while wearing gloves. The viewfinder screen lets you see how much battery remains on your camera, giving you a heads up that you need to swap out or head into the lodge to recharge after the next run.

Airwave GoPro Connect

After downloading theAirwave GoPro Connect app, all you have to do is pair it with your GoPro camera. Once paired, you can switch rapidly from Snow2’s metrics and GPS maps screens to the app by pressing the left and right buttons on the Snow2 remote.

The Airwave GoPro Connect app is currently compatible with GoPro HERO4 Silver and GoPro HERO4 Black–HERO4 Session support is coming soon.
