Patagonia Lightens Up Black Hole Collection

Patagonia Black Hole

Patagonia just expanded the popular Black Hole line with a collection of lightweight yet durable travel bags including both duffels and packs. The new Lightweight Black Hole collection features five styles that can all easily be packed away and disappear into larger pieces of luggage when they aren’t in use.

The collection consists of a 20- and 26-liter pack, a 30- and 45-liter duffel, and a 28-liter gear tote. Each piece in the collection is built with a new fabric that is 50% lighter than the original Black Hole fabric.

The 17 oz. Lightweight Cinch Pack 20L ($79) was inspired by the clean, top-loading design of a climbing chalk bag. It uses a simple, single-pull closure for the main compartment with an extra zippered stash pocket. A micro daisy chain down the sides provides various lash points for any needed accessories, while the mesh shoulder straps and back panel cut down on sweat build-up. The pack is hydration-system compatible.

Patagonia Gear Tote

The 9.3 oz. Lightweight Black Hole Gear Tote ($49) stuffs into its own pocket for easy portability, while the Lightweight Black Hole Pack 26L ($99) pack is a versatile panel loader that weighs just 18 oz. I can see the Gear Tote coming in handy for hauling ropes and other climbing gear to and from your car.

The new Lightweight Black Hole Duffel 30L ($79) is the lightest (16 oz.) and smallest duffel in the Black Hole line and stuffs into its own pocket for easy portability. The 45L version ($99) is the perfect mid-sized duffel that packs down small, weighs 18 oz., and also stuffs into its own pocket.

The Lightweight Black Hole collection is available now from the Patagonia website — all the bags/packs come in a variety of colors, of course.
