Berghaus Hyper 100 Ultralight 3-Layer Jacket

Hyper 100

At ISPO last week, Berghaus won an award for their new Hyper 100 — the lightest 3-layer rain jacket out there. Part of the brand’s Extrem Light range for the upcoming spring/summer season, this is not only the lightest but also the most breathable jacket Berghaus has made to date — perfect for those high intensity mountain pursuits.

The Extrem Light range was developed over many months by the MtnHaus innovation team, working closely with materials and component suppliers and Berghaus’ team of sponsored athletes.

The Hyper 100 is made from three layers — a six denier outer layer, a seven micron membrane (Hydroshell Elite Pro membrane), and an eight denier backer. It provides 55,000 g / m² / 24h of water vapor transmission (MVTR) and up to three times the tear strength of Berghaus’ previous Hyperweight raincoats — this means it is very breathable while remaining super durable.

As the jacket weighs only 97 grams it is ideal for fast and light mountain pursuits such as trail running, climbing, or ultra races where every gram counts and for which reliable weather protection is required.

The hem, hood, and cuffs are made from simple elastic for a close body fit. The body of the jacket is constructed without seams to cut down on any leaks or chaffing and is stretchy enough through the shoulders so as not to restrict any movement. Even at this weight, you get one internal zipped security pocket.

The Berghaus Hyper 100 jacket retails for 300 euros and is available for pre-order now.
