A Hoodie That Will Last For 100 Years

100 yr hoodie

UK adventure apparel company Volleback created a hoodie that they claim will outlive you. The aptly named 100 Year Hoodie may feel like your favorite cotton version from Gap, but it’s made from materials found in spacesuits, body armor, and aircraft carriers.

To create the hoodie, Volleback turned to Kevlar or aramid fibers that have a strength to weight ratio five times stronger than steel. These fibers are spun into a super soft knit to make the most indestructible yet comfortable hoodie you’ve ever worn. The inside of the hoodie is extra soft with a cushioned fleece-like feel.

As you might expect, the 100 Year Hoodie is highly resistant to rips and abrasion. The material can survive at extreme temperatures ranging from 300°C to -200°C — the same as you’d find on the poles of Mars and the surface of Mercury. So on the off-chance you end up on a rocket with Elon Musk to Mars (highly likely if you live in Silicon Valley), the hoodie comes with a multi-planet guarantee. If not, the company is pretty confident it can at least survive the 2,000 washes, 4,000 wears and 100 accidents it needs to before you’re done.

Volleback dyed and washed the aramid fibers to a dark grey and once they’re exposed to sunlight the color will lighten, giving you an aged and lived-in look –the color of each hoodie is unique and not repeatable so you don’t have to worry about rocking up to work wearing the same hoodie as the engineer in the next cubicle.

The Volleback 100 Year Hoodie retails for $295 and can be purchased from the company website.
