Eddie Bauer Reinvents The Down Jacket

EverTherm

Eddie Bauer, one the original pioneers in down insulation, gets set to release a set of jackets using a new down technology. An exclusive to the company in North America through 2018, Thindown uses an ultra thin sheet of down fabric to replace traditional high-loft down clusters in order to deliver warmth without the puff.

Eddie Bauer’s new EverTherm line of jackets are insulated with 30 grams of Thindown inside a water-repellent StormRepel Super DWR shell. As Thindown is constructed as a continuous sheet, the down will not migrate, removing the need for baffling or quilting. And since the down is uniform throughout, there are no cold spots — you get maximum thermal efficiency without the bulk.

The EverTherm Down Jacket will keep you warm down to -15 degrees F with moderate activity. The men’s jacket weighs just 11.36 ounces, while the women’s jacket weighs only 9.12 ounces.

The EverTherm Down Jacket comes in both a hooded ($279) and non-hooded ($249) version for both men and women. You can pre-order the jackets online at Eddie Bauer now, or wait for them to hit shelves September 24.
