Gear Aid Carves a New Niche in Knives

buri

Gear Aid, the go-to care and repair company for the outdoor industry, launches two new fixed blade knives designed for adventures both on land and in the water. The Buri is ideal for use around camp, while the Akua is designed to be your sidekick on all those paddling and diving trips.

The Buri features a 3-inch drop point blade with both straight and serrated edges for cutting through multiple types of jobs. The full tang blade is made with 420 stainless steel to resist corrosion and will not break under pressure. It’s equipped with a bottle opener at the end which we all know is super important when it comes to camping.

The sheath has multiple attachment points, including a removable belt clip to hook to backpacks, belts, and boots. You can also use a lanyard to hang the knife around your neck for quick access or the  1-inch webbing slots compatible with MOLLE systems. With a butt end glass breaker, the Buri is also a rescue knife in emergencies.

For paddle and dive fans, the Akua blunt tip knife (won’t puncture inflatables) is well equipped with both a straight and serrated blade, line cutter, screw/pry tip, bottle opener, and rounded dive tank banger. Whether you’re paddling the river or diving the reefs, this knife attaches easily to your PFD lash tab, boat deck, or dive gear. The quick release sheath gives you immediate access to your knife via the simple press of the thumb tab or just giving the knife a firm pull.

Both the Buri and Akua knives weigh 5.5 ounces and retail for $29.95. The Buri comes in high-visibility orange and black, while the Akua comes in high-visibility green and black.
