Klymit Releases Hammock Tent for All Seasons

Sky Bivy

While we got a sneak peek at Klymit’s new hammock tent at Outdoor Retailer earlier this summer, the Sky Bivy is now ready for action. Made from a combination of the Lay Flat Hammock and the Sky Shelter, the hammock tent provides a stable and relaxing sleeping platform with full protection from the elements.

The stable Lay Flat Hammock features spreader poles that create an open and even surface to sleep on, eliminating the dreaded taco effect as soon as you hop inside. Adjustable dual foot straps allow you to alter the position of the hammock both vertically and horizontally to customize your comfort. Tree friendly straps and carabiners come with the hammock and once put up, can hold up to 300 pounds — that’s enough for you and your furry friend if you’d like.

The Sky Shelter’s adjustable straps and wings allow you to customize the configuration depending on the weather conditions. For example, in storm mode, you can buckle the wings at the head and tail together under the hammock and secure the guylines to the four included stakes. Now you have a fully enveloped hammock. For shade mode, simply unbuckle the wings at the head and the tail, loosen the guylines, and retie at the necessary angle to create a perfect shade block.

The Sky Shelter integrates seamlessly with the Lay Flat Hammock to create the Sky Bivy. The full system weighs 4.7 pounds and has a pack size of 14.5 inches x 15.75 inches. The Sky Bivy retails for $250, but you can also buy each piece separately — the Lay Flat Hammock for $150 and the Sky Shelter for $130. All are available now from the company website.
