Using an accelerometer to monitor the changing forces on your mountain bike as you ride, the Simon electronic suspension system gives you a real-time response, allowing you to instantly adapt to the changing trail conditions.

Even more cool sports gadgets coming out of CES this week, this one from Silicon Valley Global, a new company from the founder of RadioShack, Richard Brown. The Tunebug Shake is a vibration speaker that turns your helmet into a surround sound audio system. We all know that it is dangerous to wear headphones while cycling or snowboarding. Well now the Tunebug Shake allows you to listen to music while still being able to hear what is happening in the environment around you. 

Combination Rugged Cell Phone, GPS And Sports Computer

German company MiaVojo has created a sophisticated device that combines a rugged cell phone with a GPS device and a sports computer. Called the MAMBO2 SE, this new sports device can be used for any activity such as cycling, hiking, or running. All of your training and GPS tracking information is automatically uploaded and stored on the MiaVojo Sport website where it can be analyzed in realtime or saved for later.

The standards race to turn smartphones into sports accessories has heated up and it appears that ANT+, used by SRAM, Garmin, Adidas and others might win. As we mentioned in an earlier post, Polar has OEMed their technology to Nokia and developed a Bluetooth based Heart Rate Monitor to connect to a Nokia smartphone. Now a new Minnesota company, Pedal Brain, is offering an ANT+ accessory and application that will turn your iPhone or iPod into a full blown cycling computer.
