A number of resorts, even here in California, opened over the weekend. Ski season is officially here. Below you will find eight apparel essentials for both resort as well as backcountry skiing. I spent most of August and September on the road, driving clear across the country and back (twice!) with numerous stops along the way. All the while, I basically lived out of my Subaru Outback—a fun albeit brief version of “vanlife” so to speak. The following ten items made up the base of my essential kit and helped to ensure the experience was enjoyable, not merely a slog of driving endless mile after mile.

Although we are lucky enough to ride year round here in California, cycling season always ramps up in early summer. On the average Sunday, you will see thousands of cyclist making the pilgrimage over the Golden Gate to enjoy the hilly and scenic roads of Marin.
