At Interbike this week, CatEye displayed their latest bike computer—the Strada Smart. Extremely small and lightweight (17 grams), this head unit mounts on your handlebar stem and operates in one of two modes—Mirror Mode or Sensor Direct Mode, giving you the option to bring your phone on your ride or leave it at home.
First released across Europe and Australia, Magellan now brings their Cyclo line of GPS bike computers to North America. With feature rich devices that could rival their Garmin equivalents but at a more affordable price, expect to see the Cyclo bike computers mounted on many a handlebar this summer.
One of the products I am excited to check out at Sea Otter this weekend is the latest cycling computer from Garmin- the Edge 1000. Basically taking the best from Edge Touring and Edge 810, Garmin then added a large, 3" high-res color touchscreen display, advanced smartphone connectivity, and Strava-esque segment features.
Earlier this week, Polar officially announced the launch of their very first bike computer – the V650. With limited feature details at the moment, the V650 looks to be the long awaited, non wrist-based addition to the Polar family and a direct competitor to the Garmin Edge family of products.
