Chasing after the success of online fashion sites such as Gilt, Rue La La and Vente-Privee (said to be valued at over $1.5 billion), The Clymb is soon to launch an equivalent concept catering to the outdoor set.
The Clymb is a new, invitation only, private member network for dedicated outdoor enthusiasts, athletes and professionals including climbers, hikers, runners, bikers, paddlers, snowboarders and skiers. Starting Wednesday November 4th, The Clymb will launch their 3-day online sales event format bringing members premium branded gear as low as 70% off.
Quantities will be limited, as similar to other online apparel networks, the gear will most likely come from excess inventory, samples, overstock and vendor returns from the Company's brand partners. It will be interesting to see the breadth and depth of the sale offerings as retailers and manufacturers try and plan their inventories better going forward.
People can join The Clymb by receiving an invite from an existing member (to get your own invite, click here). Reminder emails will be sent to the community when new sales are about to open, driving interest and visitors to the site before items are sold out. In the near future, members will have access to iPhone and other mobile applications to see current and upcoming sales items wherever they may be.
Founded in Portland, Oregon by a seasoned team of outdoor and sport industry executives, The Clymb hopes to innovate on how outdoor products are currently distributed while maintaining the integrity of the brands. The Clymb guarantees that all items are of authentic pedigree. So find a member to get your invite before the sales begin!
