UK company Create Bikes is on a mission to take the fixie out of the hands of the high fashionistas and bring it back to its roots as an affordable bike that is easy to maintain. With simplicity yet style, the Create fixie or track bike built in the classic geometry, harks back to the days of the original reckless and agile bike couriers.
The Create fixie comes in two sizes- standard or small. The standard seat tube length is 60cm with a 590mm top tube and the small is 55cm with a 540mm top tube. The frame is made of hi-ten steel with a 72º parallel seat tube and head tube.
The new 2010 track bikes have flip-flop rear hubs meaning you can switch back to free wheel riding when you need to. The bike is designed with front and rear C-Star caliper brakes to make it safer to ride in the cities. The wheels are comprised of 700C 40mm deep section alloy aero rims on Assess large flange alloy hubs
The Create bikes also include a new sealed bottom bracket, straight 6 degree handlebars, cushy 110mm grips, a dual hub with sealed bearings, 165mm crank arms, and a narrow type soft feel top saddle.
The fixies come in an array of color combinations for you to choose from. Your track bike is shipped to you roughly 85% assembled via a heavyweight 7-layer shipping carton. You will have to fit the handlebars, seat, front wheel and pedals once it arrives, which should only require basic tools. The new 2010 fixie line will ship starting March and retails for £247.
