TentPak High Peak Backpack plus integrated dome tent

Family owned Idaho company TentPak came up with the novel idea of integrating a tent into a backpack, creating a convenient shelter package for both emergency situations and as starter kits for the novice outdoorsman. With dome tents and backpacks supplied from popular European brand High Peak, TentPak delivers high quality, affordable and convenient all in one gear packages.

A 3 season or 4 season dome tent is attached to the backpack via the patented strap and buckle combination that is physically attached both to the bottom shelter pocket of the backpack as well as the bottom front wall of the tent. The buckle gives you the option of keeping the backpack attached for storage inside the tent or 24 inch vestibule or unclipping for storage in a tree or bear box.

In the morning, the tent rolls up nicely to fit in the dedicated shelter pocket at the bottom of the pack. The pocket has plenty of room for the tent, fly, folded up poles and pegs while even leaving enough space for a sleeping bag.

The TentPak currently comes in 12 different models, all with a built-in two person tent. The backpacks range in size from 45L up to 80L in both men's and women's versions. High Peak's innovative Vario System lets you adjust the height of the shoulder straps and waist belt so that it fits your torso length perfectly. Several backpack models have a removable day pack which works well as a first aid kit.

Two of the TentPak Jump Start systems, with the Phantom 45 and Luna 45 backpacks, include a 20 degree sleeping bag. These will make great starter packages for kids such as Boy/Girl Scouts or first time campers. The Phantom 45 Jump Start retails for $149.99 – it would be tough to buy a backpack, tent and sleeping bag separately for that price!

High Peak Everest series noggin notch

TentPak will adopt three of High Peak's new Everest series packs coming in April to make up a new high end line. The Everest packs include a "noggin notch" (pictured above) that allows you to move your head freely (a big pet peeve of mine, especially with a pony tail) but also tilt your head back for a little rest.

The big selling point of the TentPak is that it is generally cheaper than buying a backpack, dome tent and even sleeping bag separately. Each individual item in the TentPak system is of good quality so you are not exactly skimping on gear. For emergency personnel, newbies to the outdoors, or even everyday campers or hunters, the TentPak is hard to beat for convenience and affordability.
