Nokia Bike Powered Phone Charger

Nokia Bike Powered Phone Charger

Earlier this week, Nokia launched their Bicycle Charger Kit which captures the free and eco-friendly energy you create while biking to charge your Nokia cell phone on the move. The bike charger is similar to Dahon's BioLogic FreeCharge launched last summer, but engineered to bring out the best in Nokia phones.

The bike charger will be great for use in combination with Ovi Maps when navigating through unfamiliar territory. You can also play music aloud so you can have some entertainment on your commute without the danger of wearing headphones.

The Nokia Bicycle Charger Kit includes the bike charger, phone holder and a bottle dynamo (small electric generator). The bike charger and phone holder attach to your handlebars while the bottle dynamo attaches to your bike fork. The bike charger will be compatible with any Nokia phone that has a 2mm charger jack.

The dynamo starts charging when you get up to speeds of 6 km/hr (4 mph) and stops at 50 km/h (31 mph). The bike charger will match the efficiency of a normal wall charger when your are traveling at just 12 km/h (7.5 mph). Nokia says that a 10 minute journey at only around 6 mph will give you 28 minutes of talk time or 37 hours of standby time.

The Nokia Bicycle Charger Kit will be available before the end of the year and cost around $18.
