Though a relative newcomer to the outdoor footwear scene, Oboz is quickly racking up accolades for their high-quality hiking boots and environmentally friendly ways. Oboz recently took that footwear expertise a step further and expanded into trail running shoes. I was sent a pair of the new for Spring '11 women's Flash to test out.
The Flash is Oboz' lightest trail running shoe to date (10.1 oz). The Flash is built on the Oboz Trail Dynamics midsole system which uses two separate EVA molds, one high density cradle and a lower density foot platform, offering both stability and cushioning. Two embedded EVA SuperSkin (ESS) plates in the forefoot and heel protect your foot from sharp stones.
The Trail Dynamics outsole features numerous low profile lugs. The lower profile makes these trail running shoes effective on a more versatile amount of terrain. I have been wearing the Flash not only for trail running, but also day hiking and even for running or walking on the road.
A synthetic leather frame on the upper, together with the asymmetrical lacing system, help keep your foot in place so you don't slide forward when running downhill. The tongue is fully gusseted, or attached at both sides, keeping rocks and dirt from getting inside your trail shoes.
Bottom Line: The Oboz Flash are relatively lightweight, super comfortable trail running shoes that offer superior traction on the trails. I would even recommend using these trail shoes as day hikers as well.

This is a great in-depth review and sounds like a reliable piece of equipment. I'm quite an outdoorsman myself and I'm always interested about outdoor and sports gear.
