Partnering with Washington based portable power company Joey Energy, Timbuk2 has created a unique series of bags with built-in power supplies that will recharge virtually any USB compatible device, all while you bike commute to work or travel across the country.
Engineered for integration into outdoor and travel products, the Joey T1 portable power pack features a slim design with a water-resistant case. The USB ports and charging LEDs are built into a satellite unit that Timbuk2 has designed into a dedicated compartment inside their bags. Ports within the compartment let you thread the charger cable to your iPad or iPhone nestled safely inside their own dedicated compartments.
You can recharge the Joey T1 and your connected devices from a single mains outlet at the same time. One power pack charge will provide several complete recharges of your cell phone. The power pack automatically senses that a device is plugged in, so you don't need to push any buttons in order to start charging. When it has passed its useful life, the Joey T1 can be recycled at any electronics recycling station.
First in the power series for Timbuk2 are the Power Commute and Power Q bags. The Power Commute ($199) is a classic TSA-compliant messenger bag with a Joey T1 built into a pocket on the inside. The Power Q ($199) takes Timbuk2's best selling Q backpack and adds a Joey T1 that can charge any of your USB compatible devices while in the bag. A swing around side access compartment fits your 17" MacBook or most 15" laptops.
The Timbuk2 Power Commute and the Timbuk2 Power Q will be available starting October 2012.
