Scarpa F1 Evo Alpine Touring Ski Boot

Scarpa F1 Evo ski boot

For the 2014-2015 winter season, Scarpa is coming out with their lightest alpine touring boot yet. Featuring an innovative new automatic ski/walk system combined with high-tech Scarpa boot construction, the F1 Evo delivers the downhill performance of a Maestrale with the touring performance of the Alien.

The Tronic hands-free ski/walk mechanism automatically engages and disengages based on whether the heel of your boot is locked into your ski binding. The system works by using two spring loaded tabs that sit at the base of the heel. When you snap into your tech bindings, the heel pins push up these tabs, engaging the lean lock mechanism and locking your boot into ski mode. The cuff lean is set at 18 degrees but is adjustable two degrees to either side.

The F1 Evo boot is designed with Scarpa's Carbon Core Technology, a carbon-fiber frame that runs the length of the boot under the foot and provides stiffness for power transfer to the ski on the downhill. This carbon fiber frame enables the ski boot to weigh only 2 pounds, 7 ounces – a great base for any lightweight alpine touring setup.

A Boa lacing system on the lower boot keeps your foot snug in place, while a buckle and power strap is used to secure the upper boot. Inside, a heat-moldable Intuition liner uses a flex zone for extra comfort and mobility. The boot sole is designed to pick up less sticky snow, making it easier to quickly get in and out of your bindings.

The Scarpa F1 Evo alpine touring boot comes in a men’s and women’s specific version and retails for $699.
