Timex has released some great outdoor watches during the past year including their
Expedition WS4
and the recent Expedition E-Altimeter. Last month, Timex announced their latest watch release, the updated Timex Ironman Global Trainer equipped with integrated GPS. Designed for strenuous multisport use, the Ironman Global Trainer will track your location, pace, speed and distance, all in a single, sleek device.
The integrated GPS chip comes from SiRF Technology and is great at acquiring and maintaining a signal lock in urban and densely covered forest environments. The GPS will precisely calculate speed, pace and distance while measuring location and altitude with ascent/descent distances and rates. The watch will record up to 100 location waypoints and recalls up to 50 custom routes for pace tracking.
The Ironman Global Trainer runs on a rechargeable battery that last up to 15 hours and can be recharged either through a USB cable or AC adapter. Water resistant up to 50 meters, the display can be customized to simultaneously show whichever four performance metrics you would like to monitor during your workout.
You can record up to 20 workouts before having to dump the memory on your computer. The Ironman package includes Timex's TrainingPeaks software where you can download your detailed workout and route information, upload customized settings to the watch and keep an online training calendar and log.
The watch is compatible with the Timex brand heart rate monitor and bike/speed cadence sensors but can also display data from any other power meters or accessories that are ANT+ compatible.
