California Coast Classic: Gear Auction For Charity

California Coast Classic 2013

At the end of the month, I will be riding from San Francisco to Los Angeles as part of the 13th annual California Coast Classic Bicycle Tour. Presented by Amgen, the goal of this 8 day, 525 mile ride along the famous Highway 1 is to raise $1 million for the Arthritis Foundation. I will be part of the Rollin' Reporters team, made up of other like-minded media and PR professionals from the outdoor industry.

Obvious nervousness aside about the amount of mileage I need to be able to cover in just over two weeks, I am looking forward to exploring the California coast while supporting a good cause in the process. Not one to ever ask people for money and drowning under the buildup of gear leftover from testing for some great publications over the past year, I decided to kill two birds with one stone and hold a gear auction. This way, you get some truly amazing gear at a great price, while all the proceeds go directly to the Arthritis Foundation as part of my upcoming ride.

You can find the various gear up for auction over on my eBay page, including backpacks, sunglasses, shoes, and apparel, among other items. More items will be listed over the next couple of days, as eBay has unfortunately capped my listing amount at the moment. All items are new and unused, either released last spring or from prior seasons.

I promise to be very open here and update you on how much money was raised from the gear auction and show that it has all been donated to the Arthritis Foundation.

So head on over to eBay and check out all the great gear that could be yours. I appreciate the support. Meanwhile, you will find me out on my bike for yet another long training ride….

SEPTEMBER 24th UPDATE: We have raised $769.70 so far in our gear auction for the Arthritis Foundation. Thanks so much everyone! I donated $770 to the Rollin' Reporters Team this morning. A couple of sold items are yet to be paid for and I have received another box of gear to put up for auction, so I am excited we will eventually be able to donate even more money. Great work!

OCTOBER 15th UPDATE: We raised another $338 in the gear auction for the Arthritis Foundation! That makes a total of $1008 donated. Thanks everyone!
