Black Diamond CoEfficient Hoody Review

Black Diamond CoEfficient Hoddy

After the big launch last winter, the highly anticipated Black Diamond apparel collection is finally here. Over the past six months or so, I had the opportunity to test out the CoEfficient Hoody and also have a look at what the company has planned for Spring 2014.

The minimalist CoEfficient Hoody makes the perfect mid layer for all your fast moving winter pursuits like ice and alpine climbing or ski touring. Made from Polartec PowerDry High Efficiency fleece fabric, the CoEfficient Hoody is warm yet highly breathable and most importantly dries quickly if you should start to work up a sweat.

A single chest pocket is great for keeping that Clif Bar from freezing, while the hood fits snug against your head and face, trapping in warmth but also making it easy to slide under a helmet. The low profile stretch cuffs keep snow out when constantly swinging and reaching above your head and along with the smooth face fabric, sets this fleece up nicely for layering under a shell.

The Black Diamond CoEfficient Hoody retails for $159 and is available now. This is technically a men's piece but the slim profile means women can enjoy the fleece too- just go with a size down.

Black Diamond B.D.V. Hoody

For Spring 2014, the Black Diamond apparel collection nearly doubles in size, with a focus on summer alpinism and sleek looking rock climbing pieces that can do double duty on the town. The highlight of the alpine line has to be the reincarnated B.D.V or Black Diamond Vertical collection.

For the new B.D.V. collection, Black Diamond created a variety of softshell pieces made from Schoeller stretch woven nylon fabric treated with NanoSphere Technology. Breathable yet highly weather resistant and durable, the hoody, jacket, pants, and even shorts will quickly earn cult status among the streamlined alpine set. Expect the new gear to hit shelves around February or March 2014.
