Turn Your Favorite Trail Into Art

TracksEdge trail art

Do you have a favorite hiking trail, cycling route, road trip, or race that you never want to forget? Now you can bring your favorite routes and trails to life, by creating sculptures and canvas prints of those outdoor activities and spaces that you love.

Canadian company TracksEdge wants to transform your favorite travels and routes into memorable works of art so that you can enjoy them all the time, in an abstract sort of way. Next time you are out participating in an activity where you make a trail, bring along a GPS unit or use an app on your phone to capture the route.

Both GPX and KML files can be uploaded to the TracksEdge website to create your work of art. If you don't have a way of capturing the GPS coordinates or you want to bring to life an adventure you had in the past, you can use the map page to draw your favorite route by hand.

All sculptures are made from lightweight aluminium composite panels that are strong enough to take an accidental beating. You can choose from a brushed metal surface or from a number of printed patterns and colors. Sculptures are available in four prices ($149-$249) based on size. Size is determined based on the largest dimension of your sculpture, either width or height. Solid walnut pedestals are available to display your trail art in your home and range in price from $15-$25.

All canvas prints are printed on high quality canvas: a matte textured, 20.5 mil bright white, consistent poly-cotton blend with no additives or agents (you can choose the color of the finished product). A variety of framing options are available, with prices ranging from $42-$229.

TracksEdge plans to offer a pre-set selection of famous races, hikes, drives, and other pre-drawn routes that you can buy, from marathons such as the Boston and NY Marathon, to various cycling gran fondos and famous hiking trails.

The company is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to take pre-orders. I can see these sculptures and prints making great Christmas presents, as TracksEdge plans to start shipping your trail art in November.
