Fishpond Westwater Zippered Duffel Review

Westwater Zippered Duffel

Whether on a ski trip to Utah or a quick trip to Europe, the Fishpond Westwater Zippered Duffel has safely carried my gear everywhere. Made from welded TPU fabric with one large water resistant zipper opening, this roomy duffel keeps your gear dry in all but the worst of submerged situations.

New for spring, the Westwater Zippered Duffel is a slightly smaller version of Fishpond's popular Westwater Large Zippered Duffel. Coming in at roughly 3000 cu. in., this duffel is perfect for shorter trips where your gear still needs some weather and durability protection.

Either Westwater duffels would make fabulous bags for any packrafting or other boating adventure. Nylon webbing daisy chains along each side of the duffel ensure secure lashing to the front of your raft or boat.

For all you anglers, the duffel features two sets of rod tube straps for easy hauling to your local stream or through the airport. The tube straps are also useful for stowing paddles during portage.

For regular loads, the Velcro secured carrying straps or side handles make for convenient transport. However, for heavier loads, longer distances, or portage and backpacking times on a packrafting or fishing trip, the buckle down backpack straps are extremely useful. If you don't plan on ever using the backpack straps, you can simply remove them.

The duffel itself weighs less than three pounds so won't add to the dreaded 50 lbs airline weight limit when checking your gear. Although not as roomy as my XL Base Camp Duffel from The North Face (9460 cu. in. capacity), you can still cram a ton of gear in either the regular or large Westwater duffels (5065 cu. in. capacity).

The Fishpond Westwater Zippered Duffel retails for $169.95 and is available now. The Large Zippered Duffel retails for $199.95 and is also available.
