The Japanese have been holding out on the rest of the world. Fracap, a small factory in Lecce, Italy has been hand making old school mountaineering boots exclusively for the Japanese market.
Fracap offers two clean and simple renditions of the hiking and monkey boot. Both styles feature suede uppers as well as a lone leather offering on the hiking boot and are based on iconic offerings. The hiking boot takes some immediate notes from the popular Mountain Light II from Danner which in this style is largely unseen outside of Japan due to a special Japanese licensing scheme.
Outside of Japan, you can now find these at British company Oki-Ni.
