Originally designed with the adventure traveler in mind, the Pick Pocket Proof or P^Cubed Pants from Clothing Arts make great outdoor pants as well. Whether exploring a new country or simply out for a day hike, you can leave the backpack at home and securely store all the essentials on your person instead.
The P^Cubed Pants are made from an extremely comfortable and tear-proof mid-weight canvas fabric comprised of 75% cotton and 25% nylon. The fabric is further treated with a DuPont Teflon fabric protector to help repel water, oil, and stains, while ensuring they remain wrinkle free.
I can see the pants becoming even more comfortable over time as you break them in and give them a few washes. The fabric feels lightweight and breathable enough that the P^Cubed Pants would be acceptable to wear even in hot and humid weather.
The pants feature six roomy pockets for storing all your essentials for the day. Two zippered front pockets hide an internal pouch to fit your cell phone or some cash. An outside flap can be buttoned over the top of the zipper for extra security.
Two button and zippered back pockets snap out to create even more room, enough to carry your climbing or hiking guide book while out on the trail. The left back pocket houses a further hidden zippered pocket to hide valuables such as your wallet or passport when traveling.
Finally, two button cargo pockets have an extra security snap and are roomy enough to fit your camera, hat, gloves, or a whole bunch of snacks for the day. A separate water bottle attachment pouch can be buttoned virtually anywhere on your pants to ensure you stay hydrated and can hike hands free.
With all the snaps, zippers, and buttons, the P^Cubed Pants are heavier than most hiking pants. If you do load down the pockets, I would recommend wearing a belt to keep them up, though there is an extra button flap to help cinch in the waist.
The P^Cubed Pants fit superbly. A tapered leg means the excess fabric won't flap around and get in your way when hiking or even scrambling. When ordering, you can choose both your waist and inseam size to ensure you get the perfect fit.
Bottom Line: The Pick Pocket Proof Pants are not only tough enough to stand up to miles on the road, but these pants will comfortably see you through miles on the trail as well.
The P^Cubed Pants come in three colors (green, grey, black) and retail for $110 from the Clothing Arts website.
