Wahoo Brings Optical Heart Rate Sensor to Your Forearm

Wahoo Tickr Fit

While the initial introduction of optical heart rate monitors freed us from the dreaded chest strap, the clunky watches the technology was housed in wasn’t much better. Polar was one of the first to move the sensor to an arm band form and now Wahoo has followed suit. The TICKR FIT forearm band tracks heart rate and calorie burn data in a much more comfortable form factor.

The TICKR FIT optical heart rate monitor comes equipped with Bluetooth and ANT+ connectivity so will pair with both apps on on your phone as well as GPS watches and bike computers.  Worn on your forearm, the water-resistant sensor comes with two different band sizes (small and large) that are fully adjustable.

Instead of the coin cell batteries used in most heart rate straps, the TICKR KIT includes a USB rechargeable battery with up to 30 hours of battery life. LED indicator lights give you visual confirmation that the optical heart rate monitor is powered on, connected, and transmitting.

You can connect your TICKR FIT directly to your Apple Watch as another option for gathering heart rate data in the Apple Workout app and it also works seamlessly with plenty of other third party apps including Strava, TrainerRoad, Nike+ Running, Runkeeper, and MapMyFitness.

The Wahoo TICKR FIT retails for $79.99 and is available now.
