Last week, Chaco launched PrintShop — an online, made-in-the-USA sandal customizer. Moving beyond set patterns and colors, you now have the ability to create your own Chaco’s Z/Sandals decorated with anything from photos of your dog to your favorite piece of art or even your own drawings and paintings.
Customization is nothing new for Chaco but until now, the MyChacos program let you simply choose different strap patterns from an existing collection of webbing options. Now you have the ability to create your own designs for both the footbed and the straps, while choosing custom colors for pretty much everything else. And don’t worry if you aren’t feeling extremely creative, as Chaco offers a variety of cool designs you can choose from to help create your one-of-a-kind footwear.
Once you complete your design, workers at the Rockford, Michigan factory will bring your one-of-a-kind sandal to life. Using a sublimation process, the ink of your digitally printed image penetrates the pores of the straps and soles when heat and pressure is applied, creating a permanent image.
To kick off the new service, Chaco teamed up with landscape artist Rachel Pohl to create a few styles using her paintings, which include the mountain of Torres del Paine and Cathedral Rock. You can see her designs in the top photo.
Prices start at $130 for your custom print Chaco Z/Sandals and you can expect it to take around 10 days before shipping.
