Regarding "Only cache owners will be able to import their hides, however, to keep someone from taking credit for other people's caches," can you detail how they manage this?

If someone lists a cache on the Garmin site with coordinates etc. of an existing cache, how do they know it is an existing cache, and how would they determine ownership?

Amy Jurries

Hi David,

I don't know the exact details but they mentioned last night that caches imported from say Geocaching.com will only be changed from a GC cache identifier to an OC (linking the two) so they can tell if a particular cache has been imported before.

As for someone just stealing the GPS coords and making their own new cache over on OpenCaching, I believe Garmin is going to leave that up to the community to police. The community will be able to report a cache as inappropriate, etc. I don't think Garmin has figured out every scenario yet and is welcoming feedback from everyone on how to make it better.
