MyAdventures.com, a new social networking site for the outdoor enthusiast, launched in beta today. This free site aims to provide a virtual home-base for like-minded people to share their adventures and future sporting plans in over 40 outdoor related categories. Interests include everything from biking, cycling and hiking to bird watching and sky diving.
Registration for the site is done through Facebook Connect making it very easy to sign-up, invite friends and start uploading pictures, videos or travel logs. Personal profiles can also be updated via mobile (no iPhone/BlackBerry app yet) and current news on almost any outdoor related topic can be aggregated according to your personal interest.
It looks like the founder, Keith Bates, plans to make money on the site through advertising. How that will be integrated exactly remains to be seen.
