Fjallraven Summer Shorts

Karl Fjallraven Summer Shorts

Fjällräven, one of my favorite European outdoor brands, is introducing two new styles of shorts for summer, the Karl and the Sarek (don't you love the IKEA-like names?). Fjällräven has recently begun a strong push into the US market so expect to see much more from the "Arctic Fox".

The Karl shorts (seen above) are practical, lightweight shorts with a low waist and regular fit. These summer shorts feature two cargo pockets and have a clean, unembellished design that is perfect for playing outdoors or walking around town.

The Sarek shorts (seen below) are tough, practical trekking shorts with a bit of Cordura fabric for comfortable stretch. These summer shorts feature a map pocket, small leg pocket, two hand pockets and two back pockets for you to carry everything you need for your day out on the trail.

Both summer shorts styles are made from Fjällräven's G-1000 fabric, the same fabric used in the brand's classic Greenland jacket. This fabric allows you to make the shorts as waterproof as you want them to be by adding Greenland Wax. The wax, once applied to the G-1000 fabric and ironed, will give you a water-tight seal. You can also choose to wash clean your summer shorts to give you more breathability on those hot summer days.

After 50 years of defining the Scandinavian outdoor market, Fjällräven recently opened it's first US store in New York City. For those of you who live in NYC or are traveling through, be sure to check out their iconic gear at 262 Mott Street.

The Fjällräven Karl and Sarek summer shorts both cost $65 and are available from the NYC store, by phone (212-226-7846) or by email (info@fjallraven-usa.com).
