Sneak Peek: Arc’teryx New Climbing Harness Lineup

Arc'teryx climbing harness

First introduced in 2008, Arc'teryx's Warp Strength Technology (WST) brought huge comfort to your climbing harness. For Spring 2011, Arc'teryx is now spreading WST fully into the Big Wall, sport and trad climbing arenas.

Next year, Arc'teryx will release 7 new climbing harnesses from rock to alpine and with or without adjustable leg loops. New laminates and fabrics have been integrated into the swami and leg loops, while reducing overall weight.

Each climbing harness features a new conical leg loop shape which allows for a longer, more comfortable hang time by reducing pressure on the lower edge of the loops. The lightest climbing harness in the lineup is the S-220 L, a sport and competition harness which weighs only 220 grams.

The Big Wall climbing harness, B-360a (pictured above- not sure what is up with the naked mannequin), offers a 11 cm waist belt with six gear loops and a strong haul loop. The B-360a weighs roughly half of the lightest Big Wall harness on the market today at only 360 grams. Buckle-free Sure Fit leg loops ensure you will remain comfortable on the way all day.

Look for Arc'teryx's new climbing harness lineup to go on sale by January or February of next year, just in time to gear up for Yosemite climbing season.
