We all know that it is hard to dress properly for Fall outdoor activities as the weather can change from hot to cold in an instant. The SUGOI Versa Jacket offers the perfect outerwear versatility you require without having to carry extra layers.
Although the Versa Jacket is technically part of SUGOI's run collection, I have been wearing the one I was sent mostly for cycling as well as some hiking and trail running. The Versa has quickly become my go to Fall outerwear choice.
The absolute best feature of the Versa Jacket is the magnetically attached sleeves. You can start your bike, hike or run wearing the full breathable, water-resistant jacket, then as soon as you start to warm up, simply rip off the sleeves and stuff them in the back pocket. I was able to remove the sleeves one handed, mid-ride, which is saying something since I can't even take both hands off of my handlebars to eat or zip up my jacket.
I really wish I would have had the Versa Jacket in time for Levi's GranFondo. The super chilly, early morning start warranted a full jacket but I didn't want the burden of carrying an extra layer for the whole day. Instead I froze with a vest and arm warmers, the latter of which I dislike as they tend to slip down while riding.
The Versa Jacket has two zippered front pockets, something you don't often find in running or cycling jackets, as well as a large zippered back pocket. Elastic cuffs and a cinchable hem help to keep out the cold wind and rain.
A mesh panel at the back of the jacket/vest and underarm perforation increase ventilation and ensure you don't feel like you are wearing a garbage bag. Plenty of reflective detailing helps you to be seen in the lower light conditions of Fall.
Bottom Line: The SUGOI Versa Jacket gets two thumbs up for offering two levels of protection in one single piece. The ease with which the magnetically attached sleeves can be removed on the go really makes the jacket. No more fussing with zippers or carrying extra layers.
The SUGOI Versa Jacket retails for $120 and can be bought from various retailers such as REI or Backcountry.
