Relatively new company Aether Apparel has taken a different approach to technical outerwear, focusing equally on both design and function. Fed up with either looking like teenagers or wearing not so stylish branded jackets, Aether hopes to now bring more simple, sophisticated fashion to the outdoors.
Aether was started by L.A. film producers Palmer West and Jonah Smith. Avid outdoorsmen, the duo were not satisfied with the mainly performance driven versus design driven outdoor apparel choices and wanted something more aesthetically pleasing.
Aether's outdoor apparel marries technologically advanced fabrics with modern design and form. Basically, if Prada were to make technical outerwear, you would have Aether.
The Aether collection includes both men's and women's insulated, softshell and hardshell jackets. The jackets are constructed using PrimaLoft fill, ripstop nylon, seam sealed waterproof breathable shells, and waxed cotton among other technical fabrics. Features such as hand warmers and internal pockets with media cord routing add to the functionality.
Aether outerwear doesn't exactly come cheap at prices ranging from $235 for a wind breaker to $795 for a fully insulated jacket. Aether Apparel can be ordered online and is also available at select J.Crew stores across the country.
