Silverton, Colorado based Venture Snowboards has collaborated with big mountain rider Johan Olofsson to create a new Fall 2011 snowboard design. Dubbed the Odin after the Norse god of war and wisdom, the board embodies the concepts of Scandinavian design including simplicity of form and function.
Johan was looking to create a snowboard that was tailored to his own riding style and preferred terrain. The Odin, therefore, combines all mountain versatility with powder specific features, giving you the best performance across a full range of conditions.
As all the other snowboards from Venture, the Odin is hand crafted in Silverton, Colorado. On our quest for wild ice yesterday in the Eureka/Silverton area, we passed by the Venture Snowboards offices and factory, pictured above. The amount and beauty of backcountry snowboarding terrain surrounding the Venture HQ is just astonishing.
In order to produce lightweight boards that are durable and resilient, Venture makes their own poplar and ash composite cores. The classic Venture rockered shape is flat between the bindings with a mellow uplift on the tip and tail, giving you increased maneuverability and flotation without sacrificing stability or edge hold.
Upon initial release, the Odin will be available in a limited range of sizes, in both split and solid.
