Mammut Teams With Snowpulse For Avalanche Pack

Mammut Ride Airbag R.A.S.

Mammut is expanding its avalanche safety range by teaming up with Snowpulse to integrate their Removable Airbag System into the new Mammut Ride Airbag R.A.S. backcountry backpack. Meant to be used alongside Mammut’s line of avalanche safety tools, the airbag will significantly reduce your risk of being buried if you are caught in an avalanche.

The Ride Airbag R.A.S. is built on Mammut’s popular Nirvana Ride pack. This will be the first of many avalanche airbag packs for Mammut as they plan to launch an entire range for Fall 2012. With the added avalanche safety functionality, the Ride Airbag R.A.S. pack is perfect for 1 to 2 days of ski or snowboard touring.

The Snowpulse Removable Airbag System can be interchanged between different models or size of packs. When you pull the release handle, the airbag will inflate in three seconds through a combination of pressurized air and the Venturi effect. Once inflated, the square 150L airbag gives you extra buoyancy in the snow and keeps your head on top.

The Ride Airbag R.A.S pack comes in a 22L and 30L version and weighs 1450-1550g without the airbag system or 2360g-2450g with the system installed. The lockable and snowproof release handle hooks onto your front backpack strap where it can be quickly accessed. A leg loop ensures your pack will not get ripped off when the airbag deploys.

The hydration compatible backpack features Mammut’s adjustable CONTACT V Frame back system with removable padded hip belt. A front pocket holds all your avalanche tools and an internal padded pouch is perfect for storing your goggles. You can carry your skis through the diagonal attachment loops or snowboard through the front buckle straps. Additional front gear loops will keep your helmet secure.

The Mammut Ride Airbag R.A.S. will be available for Fall 2011.
